I Heart Faces Photo Challenge | By the Book

I couldn't resist this week I Heart Faces contest when I saw the theme.  I remembered this shot I got of Calvin in costume reading his favorite book.  Calvin, who is now almost 15 absolutely loved Dr Seuss - in fact, he could recite this whole book from memory.  After going through my image library, I realized this was taken with my old Kodak Advantix film camera and had to dig for it. I scanned it into the computer and did a little editing to pop the color and reduce noise. Not great quality, but a great memory I'll cherish forever.

Details

You spend so much time planning your wedding and making decisions like who will be in your wedding party, where to hold the services, reception location, the DJ, and the list goes on.  Oh and the details!  You spend countless hours planning everything down to the very last detail. Details like the color of your tablecloths and linens, the construction of your centerpieces, your invitations, guestbook, cake, cake topper, cake cutters, toasting glasses, rice or bubbles? What color should the ribbon on the bubbles be?  Oh, and what snacks will you serve, candy or peanuts - or both?  All these little things you take so much time to pick out. Don't let your details get lost.

Fun Senior Sessions!

Here's a look at a few of my past senior sessions.  Lynn Marie Photography will make your senior session fun and relaxing.  Plan to spend 2 to 3 hours at several locations.  If you are not sure where you want to shoot, I can help you decide based on the look you are trying to achieve.  The most important aspect of Senior Photography is that your personality shows through in your images.

One great way to capture your unique personality is to choose a unique location like we did for some of Courtney's senior session.  We found many great backdrops right outside her home and on her grandparent's farm - where Courtney spent a lot of her childhood playing.  She also wanted to incoproate flowers so we captured a few of her images at Tut Hill Gardens.

Eric & Katie | Engaged

When I met with Katie and her mom last April, I realized just how small Sioux Falls is.  It turns out that Katie knew our boys from the summer care program at Citi.  She even remembered their names!  I was delighted to be chosen to shoot their wedding.

For their engagement session, we headed to Falls Park to capture a few signature Sioux Falls shots.  Then I took them to Riverdale Park where we captured some more beautiful images.  Katie and Eric will be married this June in Brandon, SD.

Photography Tips for Your Wedding Day - Posing for Perfection!

Did you know that subtle changes in how you pose can make a huge difference in your wedding portraits?

LET ME SEE THOSE EYES!

Many times I see brides wanting to lift their chins to avoid that “double chin” look. It is actually less flattering to tilt your head back because your chin will become more prominent than your eyes. For example, you can make your eyes appear larger in portraits by lowering your chin just a little bit - only enough to bring your eyes closer to the camera than your chin and mouth.

Use this trick sparingly and practice in front of the mirror.

THOSE FLOWERS!

Another tip is to consider how you hold your bouquet … lower it. Many times, brides will appear as if they are hiding behind their flowers.

Before
Your wedding gown is gorgeous so show it off.  Make sure it is not hidden behind your flowers. This is also true for your bridesmaids. By holding your bouquet lower, your body will appear longer and leaner.

After
Still not sure how to hold your bouquet? Rest your wrists on your hipbones and usually, you have found the perfect height.

Don't worry ladies - as your photographer, I will make sure these little tips aren't forgotten so you have beautiful images where you look your absolute best.
